Early Life and Education

Being raised near Tamworth on a large property and then attending school in Sydney, Natasha Szorkovszky developed a broad perspective. She left school early to work, by age 17, she had worked her way from retail to office junior then the EDP department and assisting the Financial Director with General Ledger. Simultaneously, she worked evenings and weekends at Castle Hill Tavern as Function Coordinator after starting as a waitress in the Bistro. She continued with department coordination, system integration work and secretarial roles while also working in childcare before deciding on her University degree.

Career Development and Diverse Roles

Natasha entered BA Education as a mature age student at 23, taking a break from her studies to raise her first child. After her three children started attending school she returned to her studies. She changed to BA Psychology and gained an interest in Neurology and Sociology while also working at the local community centre.

University Journey and Academic Pursuits

Having raised three children on her own while managing the challenges of a spinal cord injury later that year, despite the challenges, two of Natasha’s daughters entered university and have excelled, her son has started a government accredited course after just completing year 12. Her eldest daughter was asked to join the School of Humanities Academic Excellence Society during her first year of Journalism, while working and completing a nutrition degree. She received a letter encouraging her to publish while still in high school. Natasha’s second daughter is also independent, working and studying three units towards her Science degree. She challenges the idea that single mothers can not raise children as well. Natasha raised her children in a semi rural area enabling them to learn to grow vegetables, ride horses, buggies, quads and motorbikes only a short walk to the river and local dairy that sells to the milk companies.

Overcoming Personal Challenges and Raising Three Children

Natasha Szorkovszky comes from a political background. Her maternal grandfather was a distinguished guest and speaker at local and international levels. He was honoured with an MBE for his outstanding contributions to the community helping other immigrants assimilate and encouraging them to volunteer to say Thank You to Australia. He held a clerical position after seeking refuge in Australia and also became a unifying figure for the ‘Magyar’ people, bridging differences within the community.

Political Legacy and Family Influence

Natasha’s Paternal grandfather was the first to introduce HECS. He played a pivotal role in shaping policy in Australia including the Joint Standing Committee on State Policy. He was an active supporter of The Centre for Independent Studies also joining Mont Pelerin Society to oppose the rise of monopolies and socialism and wrote Accountancy Education: Professional Monopoly and the Public Interest while Principal of Metropolitan Business College. He worked as chairman on the War Pensions Entitlement Appeal Tribunals having been invited by Ralph Honner, a former leader of the Kokoda forces and also. served in the newly formed armoured division during WWII.

Values and Political Goals

Bringing life experience and insight with her values that were shaped by her Grandfather’s outstanding credibility and accountability. Natasha’s goals are; cutting government spending with checks in place to stop corruption. Simplifying bureaucracy and having transparency in government and media. Removing unnecessary government spending and doubling up of departments including outsourcing which is more costly and avoids the necessary accountability. Restoration of people’s freedoms and rights. A social support network that works and looks after our most vulnerable members of society, not the middlemen.

Vision for Australia’s Future and Policy Perspectives

The Gerard Rennick People First Party has solutions that will restore Australia including raising tax rates on offshore profits. HECS and immigration reform, a change to capital controls to stop the banks over lending cycles so more Australians can own their homes. We stand for lower taxes, voluntary superannuation and flexible child care support. Better support for farmers and primary producers.

Commitment to Education and Intellectual Growth

Australia was often at the forefront of producing unique, creative, world leading thinkers, she would like to see higher order thinking skills developed in Education, her stance is that growth through free speech and humour should be nurtured not oppressed.
