Early Life and Journey from Ireland

Born and raised in the Irish republic into a working class family was just the beginning of an itinerant journey from the Emerald Isle to the UK and around the Chanel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey.

Unless you were a Poet a Priest or a Politician, Ireland in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s afforded little future for the working class. With a trade secured and a rugby education from the fields of his province Munster, he joined the exodus of Irish youth seeking adventure abroad.

Adventure and Settlement in Australia

Along the way, Richard met his Colleen, and the journey continued via the Isle of Man, where the growing family eventually settled in Brisbane, Australia.

Having built a thriving and successful sub-contract business over the years, many skills have been honed. The privilege to have played and coach Rugby union at first grade and provincial at U20 level has afforded a wealth of public speaking with a Diploma in Drug and Alcohol opening doors to working in Indigenous and non-Indigenous rehabilitation centers.

“Leaders aren’t born. They come to the fore in the journey of life having had the privilege of great men and women speak into their lives”

A Family Committed to Community, Service, and a Working-Class Outlook

Richard and his wife Charlotte currently live in Bogangar NSW in the federal seat of Richmond. Their three children work in Law Enforcement, State Government and Construction. He has a passion for people, politics and history and believes he passes the pub test.

“I view the world from the bottom up. It’s a working class view”
