AN IMMIGRANT'S STORY
David was born in the picturesque islands of Fiji. His roots are a beautiful blend of two worlds: an Australian father, a dedicated mine safety officer, and a Fijian mother who created a loving and nurturing home for their family. David is the second of six children, each uniquely shaped by their diverse upbringing. When he was young, David’s family moved back to Australia, and he spent most of his school years in the breath taking Atherton Tablelands. His teenage years were filled with the thrill and camaraderie of sports, particularly Rugby League and Rugby Union, where he found his passion for competition and teamwork. To this day, his love for sports runs deep, and he has an unwavering loyalty to his beloved Canterbury Bulldogs.
Tragedy bring Triumph
However, life, in its unpredictable way, has shaped David through a series of deeply transformative experiences. His parents’ separation, followed closely by his father’s untimely passing just two months after he turned seventeen, marked the beginning of a new chapter and one that forced him to mature far beyond his years. Those painful events opened his heart to compassion and taught him the meaning of resilience. It was in those moments of grief that he found his true strength. Now, as a bus driver, David has had the privilege of meeting people from all walks of life, each person with their own story, their own struggles, and their own dreams. Through these encounters, his desire to help others, to break cycles of hardship, and to make a difference in the lives of his fellow Australians has grown. There is an undeniable power in connection, and it is through these connections that he has become more determined to create a better future for those who feel overlooked or forgotten.
Close-Hearted Commitment
Over the past three decades, David has witnessed the ebb and flow of governments, taxation policies, and the evolving landscape of homeownership and family health services. These issues are incredibly close to his heart. He believes that homeownership is not just about property, it’s about stability, security, and the foundation for a successful future. His vision is for more Australians to experience the profound peace that comes with owning a home, and to break free from the cycles of uncertainty that so many face. Now, David is stepping into what will undoubtedly be the greatest challenge of his life: politics. It’s a journey that, at times, fills him with fear and doubt. But he has come to realize that fear is just a signal—a call to action, urging him to take that first step forward. And with every step he takes, he is fueled by his passion for change, his commitment to helping others, and his unwavering belief that together, we can build a brighter future for Australia. He is ready to make a difference—no matter how daunting the path ahead may seem. The time for change is now.
