Industry Development

DATA CENTERS

People First will legislate that Data Center owners must build their own power and water supplies rather than accessing existing supplies of power and water.

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING

The People First Party is committed to protecting the interests of primary producers in agriculture, mining, logging, and fishing industries. We will legislate to guarantee the right of primary producers to engage in collective bargaining with major retailers, such as Coles and Woolworths, ensuring they receive fair prices for their produce.

This policy benefits consumers by fostering a fairer, more competitive market, where primary producers are empowered to negotiate better deals, ultimately leading to more sustainable pricing, higher-quality products, and a stronger, more resilient supply chain. Supporting primary producers ensures that consumers can continue to access affordable, high-quality goods while safeguarding the industries that sustain our economy.

People First will also outlaw Non-Disclosure Agreements between major retailers and suppliers that prevent farmers and other suppliers from disclosing the price they are receiving for their goods. This will ensure a more transparent and efficient market process.

PROTECTING FARMLAND FROM RENEWABLES

The People First Party is committed to preserving the integrity of Australian farmland. We will implement strong regulations to protect agricultural land from being overtaken by large-scale renewable energy projects, such as wind and solar farms, that may negatively impact food production. Our priority is to ensure that farmland remains available for farming and food security while supporting responsible renewable technology in suitable areas, such as nuclear energy. This policy will protect both our agricultural industry and the future of Australian food supply.

DEVELOP OUR PRIMARY INDUSTRIES

People First will secure our agricultural heartland through either constructing or funding new dams, better roads, fencing and adopting better land management processes. Funds saved by eliminating government waste will be redirected into regional infrastructure. Water buy-backs will cease and where appropriate irrigation will be encouraged to increase food security. Water diverted from the Snowy Hydro scheme will prioritised for irrigation. The current practice of flooding the Murray basin on a regular basis will cease in order to prevent unnecessary erosion. We will also implement a reservation policy for iron ore and coking coal of no greater than 5% of production that has to be valued added into steel before being exported. People First is committed to long term policy frameworks to support mining and downstream domestic processing to restore Australia's manufacturing sector.

STOP FOREIGN OWNERSHIP OF AGRICULTURAL LAND AND WATER RIGHTS

Foreign ownership of agricultural land and water rights will be prevented on a prospective basis. Existing CGT exemptions granted to foreigners on the sale of water rights will be abolished.

IRON ORE AND COAL RESERVATION POLICY

People First will reserve a small percentage of Iron Ore, Coking Coal and Thermal Coal mined in Australia to be processed into steel in Australia in order to rebuild Australia's Steel Industry.

DEPRECIATION INCENTIVES

Machinery related to manufacturing in Australia will be allowed to be 100% written off for tax purposes.

SMALL BUSINESS DEFINITION

The definition of a Small Business for the purposes of Fair Work Legislation will be lifted to 30 employees from 15 employees to encourage small business to employ more people in Australia rather than offshore jobs to other countries.
