People First will focus on practical measures that will protect Australia’s environment and biodiversity, not ideology
Australians care about and respect the environment. They want to see governments preserve our flora and fauna, however they do not want to see the economy destroyed due to climate change ideology.
Climate change is a term that lacks context. If an Australian was to lodge their tax return with the ATO with a taxable income of “income changed,” the ATO would very quickly demand an exact figure.
Yet the federal government can waste billions of dollars on climate action with no guarantee of an outcome, let alone a specific outcome. The CSIRO has admitted in estimates that there are 40 different models to calculate net zero.
If the experts can’t even agree on how to calculate net zero, then why should taxpayers have to stump up billions of dollars to destroy their own countryside and energy grid for an ideology that can’t even be measured accurately.
People First will also abolish non-essential departments like the Climate Change Department and Multicultural Department as well as subsides for renewables.
It will instead focus on protecting Australia’s biodiversity, flora and fauna, riparian zones and water resources through practical measures.
People First will remove all funding and references to Climate Change.
A 10% royalty to be charged on the sale of all wholesale renewable energy to energy retailers to pay for the end of life clean up and site rehabilitation. Given State Governments have refused to impose environmental bonds on renewable energy, People First will argue that the Federal government should step in to protect the environment.
