It is evident that there is a culture of fear in Australia’s public service and a double standard when it comes to holding public servants accountable. Too often, public servants who do speak up lose their jobs and risk the threat of jail, while public servants who fail to act honestly are promoted upwards.
To fix this problem, People First will implement whistleblower protections, through the National Crime & Corruption Commission (NACC) so that public servants acting in good faith can report misconduct without fear of recrimination.
